Mara Clarke
Abortion Activist | Co-Founder, S.A.F.E.
Mara Clarke (she/her) is an abortion activist with more than 20 years experience. She is on a mission to help people failed by governments and healthcare systems to have abortions.
Mara has been an abortion activist since 2002. She founded the first abortion fund in Europe, Abortion Support Network, growing it from a grassroots group to a staffed charity. She is also one of the co-founders of the Abortion Without Borders initiative, which has helped more than 200,000 people in Poland have abortions since Dec 2019.
She is currently co-leading Supporting Abortions for Everyone – SAFE, a Dutch organization providing the funding, infrastructure and knowledge needed to support the sustainable building and scaling of the emergent European abortion funds movement.
Mara is based between London and Amsterdam.
